The definition of a rule is an accepted procedure, custom, or habit.
We all have rules or values we live by. Even if they are not written down, we live by them.
And when somebody breaks one of our rules, we can become frustrated because they are values that we think are important to live by.
What drives you?
What values or rules are important to you?
If you’ve never thought about it, just start observing and taking note of what you love and what frustrates you. Soon you will have the set of rules that you live by!
Below are some examples of rules or values that I think are good to live by.
Of these 7 rules, which ones do you like?
What would you add, and what would you take off?
“A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health.” Proverbs 15:30
2. BE KIND
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
3. DON’T GIVE UP
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14
4. DON’T COMPARE
Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant. Galatians 1:10
5. AVOID NEGATIVITY
Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! Deuteronomy 30:19
6. MAKE PEACE WITH YOUR PAST
I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Philippians 3:13-14
7. TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY & MIND
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39
