Reset, Refresh, Refocus

Many of you have finished your 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting and feel like… what is next?

I think that there is a process that we can follow that will help us each time we fast and pray!

Reset, Refresh, Refocus

1. Reset

Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

We did the 21 Days of Prayer and fasting to reset our bodies, mind, and soul, and if you didn’t, the good news is that you don’t have to wait until next January to do it! You can start today!

When you hit the reset button, you remind yourself that we need to rely on and honor God, honor the body that he has given us, and put Him first.

2. Refresh

Jeremiah 31:25 MSG I’ll refresh tired bodies; I’ll restore tired souls.

We all need time for refreshment.

Time to unplug, reconnect and spend time with our true source of refreshment… God.

Also, we need to spend quality time with our families. We can get so busy that even though we may live in the same space, we can be distant and in our own worlds.

That is what I did this week! Our family took some time to get away and spend time with each other. I love the mountains, so we decided to enjoy nature, do activities that we love (skiing) and just have some quiet time!

Take some time to reflect on the things that God did during the fast, the doors He may have opened, the vision or goals that He gave you.

Ask Him for your next steps toward your goals. Goals are the map that will guide you toward your God-given purpose. Without setting them, you’ll go in circles without getting where you need to go.

God doesn’t want us to move forward in pride without consulting Him for direction.

But He also doesn’t want us to sit back and do nothing. Setting goals and consulting with Him shows that you trust Him and believe that He will lead you while you are moving forward.

And take time to journal.

Habakkuk 2:2 ERV The Lord answered me, “Write down what I show you. Write it clearly on a sign so that the message will be easy to read.

3. Refocus

Now it’s time to refocus on the vision and goals that God gave you. That takes action!

2 Chronicles 15:7 NIV "But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded."

This verse tells us that your goals are going to take work! It’s going to take strength, and sometimes you will feel like giving up, but that your endurance and strength will be rewarded.

Psalm 37:4 NIV "Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."

Psalm 127:1 NIV “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.”

God wants to give us the desires of our hearts, but we never want them to be our primary focus. We don’t want them to become an idol we are seeking.

That is why we need to always let God lead us and listen to where He guides us.

So now that we have reset and refreshed, it’s time to refocus!

What is your next step?
