I Am Moving Forward

A few weeks ago Matt and I shared the heart behind the books that we wrote as we celebrated our bookaversaries!

It was the 4 year anniversary for I Am and 1 year anniversary for Moving Forward!

If you missed it, you can watch it here!

We both began writing for different reasons but we both believe that books will go places that we could not go and reach people we could not personally reach.

Moving Forward

Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come...” Luke 17:1 NKJV

We are all going to get offended, but we don’t have to live offended, and to do that you have to forgive.

We are all born sinners, we all had stuff done to us, we all got offended or hurt, and out of our hurt, we have hurt people.

Hurting people hurt people. Healed people heal people.

So many of us, out of our hurt, become victims or we make people victims, and playing the victim card will keep you from forgiving.

If you make yourself the victim you will make excuses for and justify your actions. And you will not realize that you are hurting people.

Hurting people hurt people and can become the victim. Saying things like..

“You don’t understand what happened to me. You don’t know what they did.”

“I was hurt.”

“Did you see what they did to me?”

“Did you hear what they said to me?”

A victim will not acknowledge that out of their own hurt they hurt people, make excuses and justify their behavior.

As I look back over my life, out of my own hurt, I hurt people, and the hardest person I have had to forgive is myself.

The key to letting go of my hurt and living in freedom has been learning to forgive and that’s why I wrote the book and what I want to tell you today. Learn to forgive.

Forgive yourself. Forgive others.

You can be healed and set free.

Matt shared about his book also!

I Am

When I encounter the Great I AM that’s when I discover who I am!

When we discover who God says we are then we no longer find our identity in what we do, our positions, our titles, our occupations, or from the words that were spoken over us.

Matt shared about a time when he was in between jobs with two kids, feeling like a failure.

He realized that his whole life he had found his identity in what he did and by negative words and lies that had been spoken over him.

After reading Philippians 3:10... I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,

God reminded him that he was first and foremost, a child of God!

In the story of Moses and the burning bush, God tells us His name: I AM!

Do You Feel Lost? I AM the Light of the World

Do You Know What You Are Looking For? I AM the Door

Do You Know Whom You Can Trust? I AM the Good Shepherd

Do You Need Power? I AM the Resurrection and the Life

Do You Need More of God? I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life

Are You Connected? I AM the Vine

Do You Know Who You Are? I Am the God who says I Am

And We must declare who God says we are!

So take off the labels and Declare who God says you are.

Proverbs 18:21, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”(NIV)

Check out Mattfry.com for the full list of I Am Declarations!

And I want to encourage you to say one every day.

If either of our books has inspired you to make changes in your life, please send us your testimony!
