5 Things To Do To Help You Have a Productive Week

UGH! I can't get anything done. I feel like I am all over the place!

Have you ever said this? If so, you can do these 5 things to increase your productivity!

Without vision, people perish. Make the vision plain, or I like to say simple, easy, and obvious. Write the vision down so you can run with it.

Now, you do need a vision for your life, but we are going to dial down and focus on having productive days and weeks that will lead to productive months and years.

I like to do these 5 things on Sunday night to prepare for the coming week, but you can also review them every evening as a touch base.

1. Brain Dump

Get a notebook or a piece of paper and write down everything you can think of that needs to be done. I like to walk around my house and open up closet doors and cabinets to find those things that are always lurking that need to be completed.

Look at last week's to-do list. What didn't you get finished? Write it down. Divide the list into two categories: Work and home.

Now, as you look at the list, what cannot wait another day? Put a checkmark next to the things that HAVE to get done.

A few of the benefits of a brain dump are that it frees up brain space and reenergizes you.

When you are opening your closets or seeing projects that need attention, you can start to get down on yourself and maybe even say, "I need to get this done." or "Ugh... why isn't this done yet."

Using the brain dump, you get to tell yourself that it's on the list and drop it. It doesn't get to steal any of your energy.

2. Put it on your calendar

Schedule blocks of time on your calendar for the projects that you marked to get done this week or by a specific date.

If you don't give these projects a specific timeslot, it will just be a wish, and they will most likely not get done. They will, however, steal your peace, joy, and nag away at you.

3. Plan your meals

More time and money can be wasted, trying to decide what we are going to eat for dinner. If you don't have a plan, you are more likely to eat unhealthy food.

Take some time to put a week of meals together. The next week, you don't have to start from scratch, you can re-do a few that you liked and add a few new ones. Keep rotating your recipes, adding a new one every now and then.

There are many apps out there to help you automate your grocery list; you just need to make time to do it. I use the app, paprika.

If you have a plan for meals, it's a lot easier to delegate help because you know what to ask people in your family to do.

4. Put your vitamin packs together

I have a weekly vitamin holder marked for am and pm. With this tool, you don't have to put the packets together every morning and evening. It saves time! On Sunday nights, I get them ready for the week. If your mornings are busy, it's a lot easier to take vitamins if they are there and ready to go.

5. Pick out your clothes

If you lay out your workout clothes the night before, it's much easier to get up and go work out. No excuses! Just get up and put them on! But you also want to lay out the clothes you are going to wear for the day.

Have you ever just stood in your closet and thought, "I have nothing to wear?"

That is just wasted brainpower. If you pick them out the night before or plan for the whole week, you will save time and energy.

Our brains are freshest in the morning, and we can focus on getting a lot done. However, you do not want to waste your time or your brainpower, making tedious decisions. These five things are easy to do at night so that when you wake up in the morning, you will be much more productive.

Just imagine it... you wake up, and your workout clothes are already there. You come back from your workout, and your clothes for the day are ready to go! Go to the kitchen, and your vitamins are organized and ready for you to take them. You look at your calendar, and you can see exactly what you need to accomplish for the day. You don't worry about other to-do's because you know they are scheduled for another day. You look at your menu, and you know what's for dinner and what you will need to prep. You have accomplished all of these things and not used up much of your brainpower.

Now you can feel confident and empowered to have a productive day.
