❤️Happy Valentines Day!! ❤️
Today is the day we express love to people. (Shouldn't we do that every day?)
What is love?
There is family love, Greek word Storge. It is the affectionate bond that develops naturally between parents and children, and brothers and sisters.
Philia love is a powerful emotional bond found in friendships.
Eros is the sensual, passionate love that is designed for marriage. (I said designed for marriage even though many have eros love outside of marriage.) This is the kind of love that is a sexual and physical attraction.
Then there is the highest form of love, Agape. It is a perfect, unconditional, sacrificial, and pure kind of love. This is how God loves us. An unconditional and immeasurable love for people who didn't start off loving HIm. As human beings, we don't even have the capacity to love this way. This is Agape love - God loved us so much that He sent Jesus, His only son, and anybody who believes He is God's Son will not die but will have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 is often called the LOVE Chapter. It tells us what real love looks like:
Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. 5 Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. 6 Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. 7 Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.
One thing that I love to do with this verse is to say it as a declaration! I put my name where it says love:
Martha is incredibly patient. Martha is gentle and consistently kind to all. She refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Martha does not brag.............
It's your turn! Place your name where the word Love is and speak it over yourself.
You can even put your kids name where it says love and speak it over them.
What would our life look like if we lived a life of LOVE?
Interesting things I wanted to share with you this week...
